Physical Education Week

Physical Education Week is a premier event
in the South Australian School Calendar.

The week focuses on the celebration of physical activity and highlights the importance of quality physical education teaching and programmes.
See this year’s dates below.

Organised by a committee of primary school teachers from both sectors, under the administration of ACHPER, each school has the opportunity to participate in various organised activities or just participate in school based activities. Schools are actively encouraged to make Physical Education Week a prominent celebration in their calendars so that the following attributes can be developed.

The Programme

PE Week is in Week 5 of Term 4: 11th – 15th November. PE Week information will be distributed via ACHPER (SA) and schools are encouraged to make it a focus and become involved in a number of activities.

Awards

Physical Education Week also provides the opportunity to nominate teachers, volunteers and schools for awards of excellence and service in the development of physical education and sport programmes in schools. These awards are presented at the PE Week Dinner (this year, Friday, 8th November). Schools are encouraged to use this as a way to recognise people and programmes that create success in this area. SACPSSA offers a limited number of dinner sponsorships to Catholic schools to assist financially. The Executive Officer will inform schools of the sponsorships available via each school’s PE and Sports Coordinator.
