The community of Dominican School, Semaphore, experienced the sad passing of one of its teachers, Mr John Zandona, during 2021. John had been a much loved teacher at Dominican for the last 12 years.

On the final Tuesday of the school year, the school came together in a morning prayer service dedicated to the memory of Mr Zandona, and it was at this liturgy that he was awarded a posthumous Honorary Life Membership to the SA Catholic Primary Schools’ Sports Association (SACPSSA) in recognition of his decades of service to providing sport opportunities to students in all the various Catholic schools at which John was a teacher.

The award was presented by Darren Elliott and John Merrett, both of whom are current members of the SACPSSA Executive, and was proudly received by John’s wife, Francesca, his four daughters and his granddaughter, who were all present.

You’ll notice the amount of Adelaide Crows’ gear in the photos – the students and staff all dressed in the colours of John’s favourite football team in tribute!
